Women 2.0 Business Plan Competition, Pitch 2008 Open

Women 2.0 is now accepting applications for the 2008 business plan competition. Teams with at least 50% female ownership are invited to submit their business ideas on a 7×7 inch paper napkin (must also complete an online application). Focused on business ideas that are in concept stage or in beta launch only, this competition is for new, independent ventures in the seed, start-up, or early stage.

Purpose of Competition

To increase the number of young women entrepreneurs by providing resources that will lead to the launch of their company.

Who Can Participate

    Any team that is at least 50% female or with a majority female shareholder is eligible
    Maximum team size is 6
    Submissions accepted from anywhere in the world
    Ideas must be in concept stage or beta launch only and must represent the original work of the team
    The entire finalist team must be present on the day of the Pitch event to present their pitch to the judges and audience in Santa Clara, California.

Competition Timeline

April 1, ‘08 Deadline to Apply. Paper napkin, business and financial plans must be submitted
April 10, ‘08 Semi-finalists will be notified
April 15, ‘08 Semi-finalists required to submit a PowerPoint presentation and a 2 minute video pitch
April 22, ‘08 Finalists notified by this date
May 17, ‘08 Pitch Night. Finalists pitch to a live audience and a judging panel. Winner chosen

    very interesting I am glad to see more offers being available for women (and minorities) to start a business because it is much harder on average for a women to get the start-up capital and convince investors to give us money. Its typically a man’s game and I am glad to see some progress on it.
