Weekly Round-up August 6
Written on August 4, 2007 by Amanda M. Gladden
I have been doing a weekly roundup of my blog’s progress and development for the past several weeks offline. However, I am now getting lots of emailed questions regarding the blog itself, thought it might be helpful to start doing the roundup on the blog to share with readers what has been working and the progress we are making since moving from Blogger. So here goes.
One of the shortest posts I’ve done so far, Traits of an Entrepreneur has turned out to be one of the most popular. That one post received so many hits in the last week especially from Stumbleupon that I am amazed. ![]()
Another entry from this site is included in the latest Carnival of Entrepreneurship hosted by Startup Spark. Check out the Carnival of Entrepreneurs#32 for some excellent writing on a wide variety of issues related to making money as an entrepreneur. This is my second time being included in this carnival. See the other carnival, #26 hosted by the Marketing Idea blog. There’s a wealth of useful information in that grouping as well.
Woman Start Your Business Now (WSYBN) has gone “no, no follow” and Court has added me to the “D-List ” he maintains. A few days later another blogger, Nick decided to host a do-follow list on his blog as well and added WSYBN I have seen an increase in traffic and quite a bit of commenting is going on which is great. The downside so far has been keeping a tight reign on the number of inappropriate links people try to leave. I’ve even had one guy leave a link to his adult website with a note to me indicating that he is trying to attract “quality traffic” from sites such as mine. Just in case he was actually serious, no, I’m not interested in linking Woman Start Your Business Now to an adult website. Thank you all the same ![]()
Kumiko had an interesting post regarding this issue a few days ago. She uninstalled the No-follow plugin, got rid of commenting altogether and is very happy with the results. I’ll test it out for a few months and then make a determination. It does take a bit more time to moderate and respond to comments but since I have reduced the number of hours I work at the consulting firm (my day job), I should have more time freed up for commenting and producing “pillar posts” as the great Yaro would say.
How do you handle comments? Are you a part of the Do follow movement? Why or why not?
