Working Woman Magazine released their list of 100 Best Women-owned Businesses this week. Companies eligible for entry had to be independent, 100 per cent women owned, employing anywhere from 5 to 100 employees.
The magazine judged companies in categories like availability of flexible schedules, importance of work life balance, family-friendly benefits as well as their advancement of female employees.

University of Colorado, Denver’s Bard School of Entrepreneurship is hosting the Bard Center Business Plan Competition again this year.
The Bard Center recognizes the most outstanding plans with cash and in-kind awards totaling nearly $100,000. There are special incentives to new business startups in the bioscience and nonprofit areas.

This is the second year the Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education is sponsoring National Entrepreneurship Week, calling it “a Celebration of the heritage of entrepreneurship in America and NEW opportunities for a NEW GENERATION”.
(note: this celebration is different than one sponsored by The Kauffman Foundation in partnership with the UK Enterprise Week which is dubbed Global Entrepreneurship Week to be observed in November, 2008)
