Enter Nokia’s Technology Innovation Competition

To all my international readers who complain most of the competitions listed here are for US residents, here’s one where geography is no barrier. You must act fast though because the deadline for this one is January 25.

Purpose of the Competition
Nokia and the other sponsors want to open the field to start up and medium sized companies to further explore and create new aspects of miniaturization, green technologies and enhanced technologies for consumer devices.

The four focus areas of the competition are:

Future Device Architecture as enabler of enhanced device capabilities, faster processing and lower energy consumption for increased possibilities in customer usability.

User Interface interest areas are very much in simplicity and human intuitiveness together with naturally required haptics

Future Touch and Feel is seeking for novel look & feel, form factor, durability and movement solutions that provide unique design possibilities and may even enable individual personalization with no compromises in usability.

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE

The competition is open to all innovations with realistic implementation and business potential. The call is mainly targeted to start-ups, spin-offs a strong interest in applying their solutions to the market of mobile consumer electronics.

Technology Innovation Entry Deadline 25 January 2008
Finalist announcement 15 February 2008
Award ceremony 19 March 2008 in San Jose, California, USA

HOW WINNERS DETERMINED

Three finalists nominated in each focus area. These 12 finalists will be invited to an Innovation Exhibition in Nokia Headquarters in Espoo, Finland, to demonstrate their innovations and possibly discuss them with Nokia decision makers.

Four winners will be announced - one from each category

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU

The winners will be awarded with the opportunity to negotiate solution development and resulting product creation with Nokia or the involved industry players.

CASH AWARD: ?

Publicity: Nokia will also make a public announcement, naming the finalists of this competition.
