Deadline Near for the 2008 Rhode Island Business Plan Competition

The Rhode Island Business Plan Competition has been organized to promote entrepreneurship and the development of start-up and early stage companies in Rhode Island.
Who Can Apply

There is no limit on the number of people on a team.
Each unique business plan must be submitted in either the entrepreneur or the student track.
Any area of commercial endeavor is valid.
The winning individual or team in each track agrees to establish operations in Rhode Island.
Applicants may compete in one of the 3 tracks:

Entrepreneur track — Open to any entrepreneur or would-be entrepreneur.
Student track — Open to any student enrolled in and attending an accredited college
or university at the undergraduate or graduate level. All key members of the team must
be students.
High school track— Open to any student enrolled in and attending an accredited
high school in Rhode Island, including public, private, charter, religious, or home schools.
There will be one winner and two runner-ups selected from the entrepreneur and student tracks, who will share $165,000 in cash and services. In addition, one high school winner will be awarded a cash prize of $1,000

Competition Timeline:

Complete plans are due by NOON April 22, 2008
Finalists present to the judges May 5, 2008
