Avon Wants to Give You $5,000 to Start Your Business

The Avon company has always been big on empowering women by providing economic opportunity. Initially they did this by making it easy to get in business selling makeup and so on. In their latest effort to empower women, they developed the Hello Tomorrow Fund.

The fund over the course of 52 weeks (which started April 2007) will choose one applicant every week to award $5,000 to help that person start a program or a project or develop an idea that will empower women. In addition to the USA, the fund will be available to assist women in 20 other countries including Argentina, Brazil, Canada, China, Turkey and the United Kingdom.

Your idea must empower women through one of these areas:

Business Development
A for-profit business that directly empowers women through its mission, product or service, or through the means of doing business.

Community Service
A non-profit project or program that helps women (of any age) realize their full potential or overcome obstacles.

Awareness & Outreach
Educate others about an issue that affects women in order to inspire and empower other women and have a positive impact on the issue.

ELIGIBILITY & GUIDELINES for the U.S Based Fund

The following guidelines must be met to be eligible to apply for a Hello Tomorrow Fund award:

The Hello Tomorrow Fund is open to individual women and men applicants. Corporations, companies or organizations are not eligible to apply.

You must be 18 years of age or older

You must be a citizen of the United States (excluding residents of Puerto Rico and other U.S. territories and possessions).

Your request must demonstrate how a Hello Tomorrow Fund award will help to empower women to expand their horizons and realize a bright future.

Your request must demonstrate that the award will benefit individuals beyond you and your immediate family members.

Application Deadline

The deadline to apply for the final cycle of the fund is December 17, 2007 for awards that will be made every Tuesday, beginning January 8, 2008 until April 15, 2008

Applications can be directly submitted online at the Hello Tomorrow Fund website or you can use the downloadable form if you prefer to apply by mail.
