Are You a Handbag Designer? Get Your Line Noticed With this Competition!

Billed as the only handbag competition of its kind in the world, the Second Annual Independent
Handbag Designer Awards™ has put out an open call for handbag designers and aspiring designers.

Here’s your chance to present your handbag design at a high profile New York event and compete for one of six Awards for Handbag Design Excellence.

Entrants are required to upload a digital jpeg image in any one or more of the following categories:

Best Student Made Handbag
Best Handmade Handbag
Most Socially Responsible Handbag
Best Green Handbag
Best Handbag in Overall Style & Design
Audience-Selected Handbag*

Competition Time-line

April 18, 2008 11:59 pm — Deadline
Late April, 2008 staff of Handbag Designer 101 will review submissions at a Prescreening Event and choose five finalists in each category

June 18, 2008 finalists participate in the Second Annual Independent Handbag Designer Awards™

June 18, 2008 judges select a winner from each category

What’s in it for You?

Besides lots of publicity:

Finalists will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have their bags featured in a window display at Henri Bendel

Finalists will be able to participate in a trunk show to promote and sell their lines at Henri Bendel.

The winner of the Best Student-Made Handbag will also receive an apprenticeship with the Henri Bendel accessory design team.

Finalists will be able to offer their bags on Bag, Borrow or Steal, a leading online handbag retailer

The Winner of the Best Overall Handbag in Style and Design will showcase their award-winning handbag collection with a free 10×10 booth (a $6,000 value) at the WWDMAGIC Accessories Show in Las Vegas, August 25-27, 2008
